Spacious Mind

"Noticing the space around people and things provides a different way of looking at them, and developing this spacious view is a way of opening oneself. When one has a spacious mind, there is room for everything. When one has a narrow mind, there is room for only a few things."

- Ajahn Sumedho, "Noticing Space"

It is also worth mentioning that noticing space around our own thoughts is a very worthwhile exercise. We habitually only grasp thoughts in a fixed way, from a certain angle. To get angry, we have to grasp it in a very personal way. Noticing the space around the thought is one way to step back from it, making us more aware. Who is thinking the thought?
